Before School Starts
Can I walk my child to class on the first day of school?
Absolutely! Families are welcome to walk their child to class on the first day of school. Campus gates open at 7:45AM and students are expected to line up outside their classroom when the bell rings at 8:00AM.
When will I meet my child's teacher?
La Mesa hosts a Meet & Greet for Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten before school begins. All grade levels also participate in Back-to-School Night early in the school year. Dates are posted on the school calendar.
Can I tour the campus?
Formal campus tours are not regularly scheduled. Families are welcome to explore the campus before or after school, and PTA volunteers are happy to answer questions at many of our events.

Please note that school schedules vary by grade level and may change from year to year. Please refer to the current La Mesa Handbook, MPUSD calendar, or your teacher's communications for the latest schedule.
When is school breakfast?
Breakfast is served everyday during morning recess. Please review the bell schedule to see when your student's recess is.
Where can I find the school breakfast and lunch menu?

Can I visit my child's classroom?
Each teacher manages classroom visits differently. Please contact your child's teacher directly if you would like to schedule a visit.
Can I volunteer in my child's classroom?
Yes! Volunteers are always appreciated. All classroom volunteers must complete the district's volunteer clearance process through the school office before volunteering.
Programs
What after-school programs are available?
After-school programs vary each school year. Some programs are open to all students, while others have eligibility requirements. Please contact the school office for the most current information about available programs and enrollment. Tech Connect is available for eligible military families. How do I join the PTA?
